Fishing The Nidelva river is one of Norway's best salmon and trout rivers, famous far beyond the country's borders because of its unusually large salmon. The record for salmon ' so far ' is 31.8 kg (70 lb). Most fishing locations are open to the public, so come and try your luck.
Golf Trondheim has two golf courses. Byneset Golfklubb offers both a 9- and an 18-hole course in beautiful surroundings. Trondheim Golfklubb has a specatacular view over the city. 9 holes.
Riding There are a number of riding centres on the outskirts of the city. Bymarka and other areas in the surrounding countryside are good places to go riding.
Swimming There are many good places to swim, both along the Trondheim fjord, and in fresh-water lakes.
Trondheim Pirbad provides the city with a 13,700 m2 "waterland" for families, and for sports and health purposes.
Trotting Trøndelag is a centre for trotting, and one of the best tracks in Norway is at Leangen. Racing takes place every Monday at 6 pm.

Walks Take an enjoyable walk in the surrounding countryside - Bymarka in the west and Estenstadmarka in the east.
Skiing Bymarka and Estenstadmarka are also popular areas for skiing in the winter months. There are alpine slopes and ski jumps at the skiing lodge - Skistua, and an alpine skiing centre with good floodlit slopes at Vassfjellet, south of the city.
Skating There is an artificial ice skating rink - Leangen ishall - for speed skating, figure skating and ice hockey. |
